For Fall 2026, Joseph Altuzarra turned his attention to Spanish culture: He drew inspiration from the work of painter Diego Velázquez and filmmakers Pedro Almodóvar and Luis Buñuel, as well as the shapely volume of traditional flamenco skirts.”The inspiration for this collection actually started from a really intuitive place. We were less thematic. There was less of a intellectual point of view, but what ended up gelling was this idea of drama,” the designer told Fashionista backstage after his show on Saturday. “We were looking at a lot of Spanish paintings from the Renaissance. We were looking at Spanish filmmaking, Almodóvar and Buñuel, and this idea of: How do you infuse drama into everyday life?”Much of the collection’s drama comes from its striking silhouettes: Sharp shoulders accent cropped jackets, breezy blouses and cocktail dresses alike; oversized peacoat collars cocoon their wearers’ necks; and, of course, those aforementioned flamenco-esque skirts sweep the floor, offering flounce with substance and structure.Altuzarra said he’s particularly excited about the collection’s first and final looks, which he considers “really strong.””The first look is this really beautiful shearling coat that’s developed to look like fur with this leather bib on top. And then the last look is this interpreted flamenco skirt with this giant peacoat, with this enveloping collar,” he detailed. “I think it really tells a story of that dramatic proportion.”

Amid the drama, the designer also grounded the collection in real life, intentionally blurring the lines between eveningwear and daywear and keeping the Altuzarra customer in mind. The color palette, for example, is a study in celebratory restraint: burgundy, fern green, blush pink, pale blue and pops of teal — alongside a smattering of polka-dot and painterly prints — are grounded by through lines of deep brown, black and white.”Desirability…was something we were talking about a lot as well,” he noted. “What I want people to walk away with is a feeling of, ‘Oh, I really want that.
