Pipenco Lorena Examines Various Stages of Love Through Her Fall 2026 Collection

Pipenco’s Fall 2026 show closed out New York Fashion Week Monday evening, but it might’ve been more fitting to have shown on Saturday for Valentine’s Day. After all, designer Lorena Pipenco had love on her mind while crafting the collection. “It’s the first time in my life where I’ve been single for this long — I’m a relationship person,” she laughed to Fashionista during a post-show backstage interview. But no worries, this collection was anything but an ode to her exes (save for Look 1, which included text from a love letter written by her first boyfriend). Rather, she was inspired to create each look as a representation of a different stage of love, like lovebombing, the crashout and marriage. The latter was a standout part of the show: A couple walked down the runway with their child, and the “groom” wore a suit and dress coat made from completely upcycled wedding dresses. Pipenco landed on the love theme after visiting a Romanian festival in New Jersey last summer. She stumbled upon a booth showcasing Romanian costumes that depicted a woman’s love life over time. “Depending on the stitches and fabrications, you could tell if the woman was in love, searching for love or if she was single,” Pipenco explained. “I felt really inspired. I feel like I’ve had a lot of [love] stories and ups and downs. This season’s [collection] has been quite a mix of literal moments.”Since Pipenco’s first runway for Fall 2025 (Fall 2026 marks the brand’s on-calendar debut) the New York-based label has consistently referenced its Romanian heritage. That throughline remains this season, namely through cultural embroidery techniques and textiles. Dramatic hats and felted garments (two other brand signatures) are also prevalent, though Pipenco updates them through new shapes. “I’m kind of happy that was my first collection showing on the calendar,” she said of Monday’s runway. “Every collection before this was me showing my Romanian heritage always through other stories, and it was nice to finally talk about what’s happening with me, whilst still talking about my family and my heritage.”See every look from Pipenco Fall 2026 below.
