On a rainy day inside St. Paul’s Church in London, Bora Aksu presented his Fall 2026 collection, specifically inspired by an 18th-century English ghost named Suki.”She lived in a famous pub and hotel called George & Dragon, and she worked there when she was 17 and died because of unfortunate events,” the designer told Fashionista backstage after his Friday afternoon show. As the folklore goes, Suki was attacked by three local boys after she rejected their advances (sigh), then fell to her death after they threw a rock at her head.

“I went [to the hotel] and stayed where she stayed because people keep seeing her wandering in the town,” he continued. There, he “traced her final journey through the atmospheric Hellfire Caves, allowing the interplay of play and memory to shape the emotional narrative of the collection,” as stated in the show notes.And the presentation of the collection was certainly emotional: As models in various shades of white, frilly gowns with tulle sleeves and lace hems circled the venue, a band of seven women (dressed in all-black interpretations of the runway looks) played light guitar, accompanied by harmonized vocals that sounded almost hopeful in melody. But soon after the first handful of looks came and went, the collection eased into a darker palette, representing the afterlife. As the sartorial transition took place, the singers began whispering repeatedly, “We can’t help you.” “The beginning was more about the 18th-century work clothes, menswear — lots of influence from that,” Aksu explained. “After one point, it was more like a surreal, ‘How can I make this not normal?’ way, but still has this ethereal, romantic presence.”In addition to those fitting the Suki narrative, Aksu also included more casual looks — a new exploration amongst his usually highly feminine and decorated designs — such as cropped sweatshirts layered over knit cardigan-and-skirt sets, and velvet puffer jackets with built-in pussy bows.”This is my dream world and this is my vision, and when it’s kind of filtered to the stores and the day-to-day customer clothing, it becomes something else.
