As a 6’0″ tall woman, Alix spent years designing for radical inclusivity — creating clothing for all genders and sizes while publishing zines about accessible fashion. Yet she couldn’t fit into her own designs. The irony became undeniable: In trying to design for everyone, she’d excluded herself.That moment of clarity reshaped everything. Herderin became exclusively tall-centered: clothing designed from the ground up for tall women’s proportions, not adapted from standard sizing. Every pattern calculates rise for longer torsos, sleeves that extend past wrists, inseams that finally reach. This isn’t accommodation — it’s recognition that tall women’s bodies deserve infrastructure that actually works.The commitment to tall-centered design required an equal commitment to regenerative materials. Herderin uses Climate Beneficial™ certified wool and cotton from California farms that actively sequester carbon and restore soil health, U.S. regenerative merino wool, Texas organic cotton from family farm co-ops, and renewable silk. Even the thread is organic cotton and supports the women who spin it, according to the brand. Every garment is sewn in San Francisco and dyed with plants, carbon-sequestering OurCarbon processes, or Oeko-Tex certified circular dyes in Novato, California and Seattle, Washington.Herderin is Fibershed certified for ethical production practices and textiles. Regional manufacturing supports local economies while reducing environmental impact.
