Fashionista's January Shopping List: 21 Items Our Editors Love

We’re only a month into 2026, but we’ve apparently time traveled back to 2016. While the internet was reminiscing about choker-accented ensembles and revisiting the blocky eyebrows of beauty’s past, team Fashionista was reinventing our wardrobes for the new year.January’s plunging temperatures inspired a sweater refresh, with cashmere polos, a chunky knit turtleneck and a baby pink mohair top entering our rotations. Elevated bottoms also graced this month’s picks, including sleek cropped drawstring pants, striped track pants and a fine art-inspired maxi skirt. So, naturally, I needed to see what all the hype was for myself. I snagged a pair of these high-waist workout leggings, and let’s just say, I’ll definitely be coming back for more. The North Face x Skims Women’s Off The Clock One Piece, $800, available here: “I’m still waiting for a ski trip this season (open to any and all invitations, please!!), but until then, this one-piece suit from Skims’ collaboration with The North Face served as the best Central Park sledding outfit for New York City’s snowstorm. It’s super comfortable, looks effortless, keeps me incredibly warm with minimal layering and, yes, it is snatched.” —Brooke

Splits59 Airweight Lite Long Sleeve Waist Length Top, $98, available here: “It has been unbearably cold here in New York for the past few weeks, so not layering a long sleeve under every shirt simply hasn’t been an option. I’ve been reaching for this sleek, ultra-comfy one from Splits59 and I swear it keeps me warmer than my layering pieces that are actually marketed to keep heat in. I also love the thumb holes, which serve almost like gloves and keep the sleeves from bunching beneath outer layers.” —Brooke

Yellow The Label Paul Linen Skirt, $148, available here: “A fine art and fashion crossover? Say less. This linen maxi skirt features French painter Paul Gauguin’s ‘Still Life with Cat,’ a vibrant watercolor characteristic of the Post-Impressionist movement. The floor-length skirt is indeed a work of art, and I especially love how the painting’s texture translates onto the fabric. I’ve just found my new uniform for my weekly visits to the Met.” —Catie
Elle & Riley Cashmere Button Polo, $690, available here: “Sweaters were my main sartorial coping mechanism for January dressing, and it basically got to a point where I had to stop myself from wearing this cashmere polo every single day in January. The relaxed fit gives it a loungewear ease, but with the collar and buttons keep it looking elevated. It’s also super warm without being bulky.” —Steph

This mid-length one kept me warm and dry during NYC’s snowstorm with the help of its water-resistant fill, fleece-lined pockets and elastic storm cuffs. Made from a heavy weight nylon, this pair is structured and basically un-wrinkleable, and the ric rac stripes on the sides are cheeky and fun. Ganni x Disney Daisy Duck Mini Hobo Bag in Brown, $650, available here: “I am, for better or worse, deeply obsessed with a Disney-ified fashion collab. The latest delivery from Ganni focuses on the ultimate diva in the clubhouse, Daisy Duck, and each piece is extremely sweet, but also very cool. I love how the shape of the brand’s signature hobo bag aligns with the curve of the character’s iconic hair bow, plus the pops of green and blue against the espresso-y brown leather.” —Brooke
Steve Madden Dusty Black Leather Boots, $160 $137, available here: “Never have I ever gotten so many compliments on such a simple pair of shoes. It’s not exactly shocking that the brand is almost sold out of every size of these versatile, super-comfy boots in black leather. But the equally chic and wearable chocolate suede version is still on offer (and on sale!). The squared off pointy toe box cuts a sleek silhouette I love with wide-leg jeans.” —Steph
