Kallmeyer Finds the Balance Between 'Fanciful and Casual' for Fall 2026

High above the Financial District on Friday evening, Kallmeyer curated the perfect atmosphere for nostalgic yearners like myself: A panorama of New York City’s skyline during a serene winter sunset set to David Byrne’s cover of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Driver’s License.”Offering a moment of reflection amid NYFW’s chaos, Kallmeyer’s Fall 2026 collection is grounded in memory and “how we hold on to objects and collect artifacts with a unique reverence for their craftsmanship, culture and legacy,” the show notes read.References to pieces designer Daniella Kallmeyer has accumulated over the years are woven throughout the garments: Marled wools allude to Macassar ebony in the Art Deco furniture she collects, while a continuous embroidery motif stems from a vintage dress Kallmeyer inherited from her grandmother.”If she was still here, she would’ve told me, ‘oh my God, that old thing? That’s nothing,’ but because it belonged to her, it means something to me,” Kallmeyer told Fashionista backstage.Above all else, the label’s signature craftsmanship — a sartorial reflection of the Kallmeyer woman’s quiet confidence — shines through tailored wide-leg trousers, draped silhouettes and “cheeky” jacquard fabrics toeing the line between “fanciful and casual.”After all, as the designer puts it, “the Kallmeyer woman is taken seriously, but she doesn’t take herself too seriously.”
